Local attractions include: - The Steen castle: Situated right at the entrance of the city centre, it was probably built in the 13th century and is therefore considered as one of the oldest buildings in Antwerp. The castle has endured numerous renovations and was utilized first as a fort, then as prison and afterwards as an Archeological Museum. The National Navigation Museum has been housed here since 1952. - Antwerp Cathedral: Built on the foundations of a Romanesque church, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful Gothic buildings in Europe. It is also one of the highest buildings in Antwerp. - Open-Air Statuary Museum: Consisting of a 4km park that is littered with over 300 sculptures, created by artists such as Emile-Antoine Bourdelle, Auguste Rodin, Aristide Maillol, Ossip Zadkine and Giacomo Manzu. The hotel is 10 minutes from the city centre with its numerous restaurants, bars and museums, 7 minutes away from the central station and just 50 metres away from a tram stop. |
