Local attraction include: Berkeley Castle (4 miles) - the oldest castle in Britain to be lived in by the same family (for nearly 900 years). The ancient market town of Berkeley nestles beside the castle, and the surrounding 6,000 acre Berkeley Estate includes an ancient deer park, farms and part of the river Severn itself. Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (8 miles) - have a fantastic day out seeing, feeding and learning about wetland birds. See the worlds largest collection of exotic, rare and endangered ducks, geese and swans. At the same time you will be helping WWT to conserve wetland habitats and their biodiversity. (UK registered charity). Cattle Country Adventure Park (4 miles) - walk around the farm trail and see a real heard of American bison, rare Gloucester and world famous Hereford cattle and Gloucester Old Spot pigs. There is the chance for your child to experience driving a real 4x4 jeep. There are train rides to other areas of the park and a splash pool for cooling off in the summer. Wet weather isnt a problem either due to large indoor play areas with giant slides, climbing ropes and toddler areas. Other attractions include: Gloucester Docks (20 miles), Badminton Horse Trails (14 miles) and Cheltenhan Racecourse (24 miles). |
