The building still retains lots of its original character and charm, as well as many of its beautiful original features, including its typical stone-built exterior. The hotel has 6 rooms, including 4 classic double rooms and 2 superior double rooms, which were fully refurbished in 2007. All of the rooms are a comfortable size, with superior rooms being slightly larger. All of the rooms include luxury toiletries and bathrobes in the en suite bathrooms. Each luxurious room is comfortable and well equipped, with all the contemporary comforts and facilities you need in a restful, relaxing base, including widescreen TVs with Freeview digital channels and an enhanced welcome tray, which is replenished daily. | |

Whatever your plans, the hotel’s delicious, freshly cooked traditional Cumbrian breakfast is a great way to start your day. Windermere is the central location for tourism in the Lake District and Glenville House is ideally situated, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the main village, with its excellent shops, fine restaurants and bistros. There are plenty of magnificent walks through the Lake District’s spectacular scenery right on the hotel’s doorstep and there is no need to use a car to reach them. An easy walk down into Bowness takes you to the home to the world of Beatrix Potter. Walk through Bowness to the lakeshore and there you will find the pier, which offers lake cruises from Bowness across to Ambleside or Lakeside, where you can enjoy the lake’s aquarium. Alternatively, you can journey a little further afield, by taking one of the steam trains on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. There is plenty to see and do to suit all tastes in the area surrounding the hotel and guests are truly spoilt for choice. All that the area has to offer is within easy reach of the hotel, either by car or on one of the many trips organised in the area Staff at the hotel are delighted to recommend visitor attractions and are sure a visit to any one of them will make your stay more enjoyable. For the more adventurous and athletic, the hotel can provide information on both guided and unguided walks, once guests arrive. |

By Car (from the M6 motorway): The hotel is easy to reach by car from the M6 motorway. - Take the exit at junction 36 and follow the signs towards Kendal and Windermere. - Turn left into Windermere by the tourist information centre and follow the road through the village. - Glenville is on the right-hand side, between the villages of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. |
