There is a wide variety of exclusive designer shops and boutiques together with some interesting places to eat and drink in Bridge of Allan. Stroll along to the Allan Water Bridge. It gave the village its name and still provides a focal point for visitors to the area. Sports and other activities are available in the surrounding area. The Wallace Monument - A monument to William Wallace (Braveheart). At 220 feet the tower sits on the Abbey Craig and is a landmark which can be seen from all around the Stirling area. A circular stairway of 246 steps leads to a panoramic viewing area. Blair Drummond Safari & Wildlife Park - Driving through animal reserves, walk through pet farms, visit adventure playgrounds, enjoy the sea lion and falconry displays, and take a boat trip to Chimp Island. There are lots of areas to picnic and enjoy a barbecue, as well as restaurant and bar facilities. Robert Louis Stevenson’s Cave – Robert Louis Stevenson spent many holidays in Bridge of Allan. He enjoyed walking along the Darn Walk which is a path running along the Allanwater to Dunblane, where you can find Stevenson’s Cave (said to be the inspiration for Treasure Island). |
