Guests at Casa Velha do Palheiro have their own private entrance to these extensive, magnificent gardens which they can enjoy at no charge - Palheiro Gardens - that was awarded the prestigious Garden Trophy at the annual Relais & Chateaux World Awards ceremony in Monte Carlo in November. The trophy is based on the association’s values of excellence whilst paying tribute to the calm and beauty of the setting of the Palheiro gardens. Our private motor yacht Balancal is moored in Funchal marina. It is available for coastal cruises and swimming, dolphin and whale watching, as well as deep sea game fishing and special charters. Madeira is renowned for its beautiful levada walks and breathtaking scenery. Casa Velha is also ideally situated if you would like to explore the island, and it is located as close to nature as one can get. |

Nestled in the hills to the east of Funchal. Casa Velha do Palheiro is situated just 7km (15 minutes) away from the centre of Funchal. The Casa Velha is in the heart of the 100 hectare Palheiro Estate, which is bordered by the Championship Palheiro Golf Course and the renowned Palheiro Gardens. Many of the centenary trees in the gardens were planted in the early 19th century. The Palheiro Golf Course was chosen as “one of the 6 most stunning golf courses in the world” by Golf Monthly, in November 1999. |

All reservations have to be paid 7 days before day of arrival. Pets: Only dogs and cats are allowed up to 3kg with a charge of 20€ per night. Extra beds are only possible in the Junior suite- up to 2 beds. |

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.
