Covilhã, in the door step of “Serra da Estrela” Mountain range, is the land of the wool industry in Portugal, cradle of the Discovers of the past. Today, more cosmopolitan and with the university, it becomes very agitated by night, with bares and discos. In the South-eastern slope of the Mountain, it’s located the highest point of Continental Portugal, the Tower (2,000 m). By road: From Oporto Enter the A1 in direction South. In “Albergaria”, take the IP5, direction “Viseu”. Passing “Guarda”, still in the IP5, take the direction of Covilhã, by the A23. Using the “Covilhã” exit North, in direction to the center of the City. (Duration: + 02h30) From Coimbra Enter the IC2 in direction to the North. Take the IP3, heading for Viseu. Before “Santa Comba Dão”, turn the right in direction of Mangualde. Here, take the direction of the IP5 until “Guarda”. After passing “Guarda”, still in the IP5, take the direction of “Covilhã” by the A23. Using the “Covilhã” exit North, in direction to the center of the City. (Duration: + 02h15) From Lisbon Enter the A1 in direction to the North, abandoning solely at the “Torres Novas” exit, heading to the A23. Take the A23 passing ”Abrantes”, after Castelo Branco, use “Covilhã” South exit, in direction to the center of the City. (Duration: + 02h15) From Faro Heading Lisbon enter in the A2, passing Castro Verde until “Marateca”. Exiting for the A13/N119 to “Infantado”, following the N10 until Vila Franca de Xira. Here take the A1 in direction to the North, abandoning solely at the “Torres Novas” exit, heading to the A23. Take the A23 passing ”Abrantes”, after Castelo Branco, use “Covilhã” South exit, in direction to the center of the City.
