| With a commanding view of the Ballyvaughan valley and Galway Bay, the dining room is the ideal setting for a relaxing evening meal. Choose from the extensive dinner menu, with a good choice of fresh local foods, carefully prepared by Chef Mickael Viljanen and his team. Organic Burren Lamb and Beef are specialities, as is locally caught fish and shellfish from the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the vegetables and herbs are grown organically around Ballyvaughan. The Dining Room is open for breakfast from 08:00 to 10:00, or earlier by arrangement, and dinner from 18:00 to 20:30 daily. An Early Evening Menu is also available from 18:00 to 19:00. Our ever expanding and extensive wine list features wines from every continent and includes a large selection of organic and bio-dynamic wines. On some evenings a harpist or pianist will entertain you during dinner. The dress code is smart casual. The Corkscrew Bar: The turf fire is always glowing in the informal and relaxing Corkscrew Bar. Enjoy an apéritif or a pint of stout here before dinner while browsing through the evenings dinner menu. Interesting food is also served here at lunchtime. Later in the day, afternoon tea can be enjoyed after a days sightseeing or hiking on The Burren. Lunch for private parties (with a minimum of 20 people) can be arranged on request. | By Car: From Shannon Airport (60 m/ 55 minutes): - Leaving Shannon Airport, follow signs for Ennis and Galway. - After leaving Shannon Town, turn off to the left for the N18 North. - After about 10 minutes, turn off to the left for N85 Ennis and Ennistymon. - Go straight through the next 4 roundabouts, all the time taking directions for Ennistymon N85. - At the fifth roundabout, take the first exit left, again signposted for Ennistymon N85. - You will pass an Esso and then a Texaco petrol station on your left. - About 1 km after the Texaco petrol station, having left Ennis, you will see a turning on your right-hand side; turn here for the R476 (signposted for Kilfenora, Corofin, Lisdoonvarna and Ballyvaughan). - Drive straight through the village of Corofin. - 8 km after Corofin you will see a ruined castle on your right (Lemenagh Castle). Turn right here for the R480 (signposted for the Ailwee Caves and Ballyvaughan). - After approximately 12 km (you will have passed Polnabrone Dolmen and will have come down into the Ballyvaughan valley) you will come to a T-junction where you will meet the N67. - Turn left here for the hotel (signposted 3 km). Do not turn right as this will take you into Ballyvaughan Village. - After 3 km you will see the hotel on your left. The entrance is marked by tall trees. From Galway City Airport (46 km/40 minutes): - On leaving the airport, turn right onto the main road (R339 eastbound). - After one mile you will come to a junction; turn right onto the N18 (southbound). - After 3 miles you will come to a roundabout; take the first exit on the left. - After one mile, at the next roundabout, take the second exit (N18 southbound). This will be signposted for Limerick. - Go through the villages of Clarinbridge and Kilcolgan. - At the far side of Kilcolgan, turn right onto the N67 (westbound). - Go through the villages of Ballindereen, Kinvara, and Bellharbour. - In Ballyvaughan village, turn left when you come to the T-junction. - The hotel is 3 and a half miles further along on your left-hand side. Car Hire There are numerous car hire companies in the arrivals hall at Shannon International Airport. Alternatively you can arrange to hire a car after your arrival at the hotel. Please contact the hotel directly for details of taxis and airport transfers. Bus and Train: There is no direct bus service from Shannon Airport to Ballyvaughan. There are four daily buses from Galway City to Ballyvaughan village during the summer months and two for the rest of the year. Some buses will stop at the hotel gate. Ballyvaughan village is 5 km from the hotel. The nearest inter-city rail station is at Galway. The following buses connect to Ballyvaughan and Lisdoonvarna: No. 423 From Galway No. 50 From Galway No. 337 From Limerick to Lisdoonvarna (and then 10 minutes by taxi). No. 344 From Shannon Airport to Ennis (and then no. 337 to Lisdoonvarna). Shannon Car Ferry: If you are travelling to or from County Kerry, the hotel recommends The Shannon Car Ferry. This 20 minute journey across the Shannon Estuary will cut your journey time by one hour. It will also take you on a more scenic route as well as giving you a break from driving.
