Union Square is just three blocks from the hotel and is bounded by Powell, Post, Stockton and Geary Streets. The square is one of the top 4 shopping areas by volume in the United States. Golden Gate Theatre, located just two blocks east of the hotel, is a 2300 seat Beaux Arts Style theatre built in 1922 for the Orpheum circuit. After undergoing a complete renovation in 1979, it has since played host to the Best of Broadway national tour, entertaining countless patrons young and old alike.
