Venices newest landmark goes beyond the conventional, located as it is in the splendidly restored 19th-century Molino Stucky, formerly a flour mill and granary. From its site on the Giudecca, the gondola shaped group of 8 interconnected islands, the hotel gazes proudly out over the Giudecca Canal and an unforgettable city skyline. All this is just minutes away from Piazza San Marco and all the citys other major attractions. The Giudecca Island with its Venetian churches used to be the residence of the Doge of Venice and is easily reachable on foot. Piazza San Marco and its Basilica are just 0.6 miles away, the same distance of the most famous attraction in Venice: Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace). This 15th century Palace is an impressive building in pink and white marble. The Grand Canal, also close to the hotel, is Venices main water through fare, lined with great Renaissance and Byzantine palaces. Teatro La Fenice, one of the most famous theatres in Europe and the main opera house of Venice, is even closer. The same is for Ponte dell Accademia - 0.4 miles - which is one of only 3 bridges in Venice that span the Gran Canal. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service for guests only, leaving daily on a 30’ basis from the hotel to Zattere Gesuati / San Marco and back. It runs from 06:50 until 02.00 and stops in front of the hotel. The best way from and to all major locations such as the airport or train station is by water taxi. The closest public waterbus station, called Palanca is 10’ walking distance from the hotel and requires crossing 2 bridges. The so called Vaporetto service runs 24 hours and the fee per person is 6 Euro, for one trip. The hotel does not provide parking onsite. The closest parking garage called Venezia Tronchetto Parking is in the Tronchetto area, about 15’ by water taxi. The price per vehicle is 20 Euro for 24 hours. For more than 3 a 20 % discount is available (only if payment is done upon arrival). The parking is open 24 hours. The payment can be settled with the following credit cards: American Express and Visa. The only direct way to get from Marco Polo airport to the hotel is by water taxi. Fee is approximately 100 Euro per taxi per way (additional charges may be calculated depending on number of passengers, luggage, etc). |
