The Lido Hotel is placed in Bolsena, a charming town on the shores of the LAke of Bolsena, located in the North of Lazio, between Umbria and Toscana, just 100 km from Rome and from Siena, 20 km from Orvieto and the Autosole A1 motorway exit, in a country with a rich heritage of culture, history and popular traditions. Bolsena Lake is the main volcanic lake in Italy, its waters are clear and the surrounding hills are covered by a thick vegetation, vineyards and olive groves. In the past the shores of the lake were populated by the Etruscan and Roman people, and still today you can admire the imposing remains of this populations. Due to the characteristics of the land and the long exposure to sun rays during the year, this country is a suitable area for the production of quality wines; the most famous are Est! Est!! Est!!! and Orvieto. The area also boasts rich gastronomic traditions evident in typical plates like the Anguilla alla Vernaccia (eel) and Coregone alla griglia (lake fish). |
