Roncesvalles (60 km) – The small collegiate church in Roncesvalles has been a popular place of Catholic pilgrimage along the Way of St. James since the middle ages. In part this is because it is the first place to rest after crossing the French Pyrenees. Every year thousands of pilgrims begin their way to Santiago at Roncesvalles. Olite (45 km) - Visiting this small, traditional town is like returning to the past. Its streets, palaces and corners provide glimpses into the town’s history, dating all the way back to the middle ages. Tudela (90 km) – Tudela is renowned for its Cathedral, which was erected in 1180, and for its market garden. Many different cultures have coexisted here over the centuries. |
