Ciutadella de Menorca with a population of 27,000 inhabitants is proud of having been Minorca’s capital from Muslim dominion to the 18th century when Ciutadella lost its capital status by invaders’ order. The Mansions and noblemen traditions contribute to accentuate its high-ranking condition. All the city has been declared as National Artistic Heritage and the feasts are considered of high cultural interest, above all Saint John’s when the “jaleo” (Medieval equestrian exhibition) takes place on Ciutadella streets. Ciutadella has an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere with warm and ruddy colours façades reminding of Venice style.
